I had one basic goal when I launched this company nearly two decades ago: to help consumers take control of their energy use. To me, that means helping them save money and protect themselves and their families from blackouts.
That’s exactly what solar power does. But a lot of other things provide that freedom too — including batteries, HVAC upgrades that save electricity, EV chargers, home generators, and electricity plans.
Over the years, Freedom Solar Power has pivoted to sell and install all of these products, all with the goal of freeing our customers from high bills and blackouts. So, as of this year, we’re changing our name to reflect that:
Freedom Solar is now Freedom Power.
Beyond the new year and new name, nothing else changes. We’re the same company with the same people and the same culture and values: now and forever, we’ll still go above and beyond, put people first, shoot straight, and give a damn.
But at the end of the day, this business has always been about helping people to spend less money and be more free.
I still deeply believe that solar power is the future of energy, and it will still be a huge part of what we do. It’s also a means to an end.
Our company has never been only about the panels on top of a roof — our biggest focus has always been the people living and working below. We’ll never stop looking for new ways to help those customers keep their lights on and lower their bills.
Freedom Power reflects that creative single-mindedness.
It’s also impossible to ignore that the solar industry is going through a profound transformation. I’ve said repeatedly over the last year that solar companies need to pivot — especially in the face of anti-energy, anti-consumer government policies.
We’re pivoting too — and we’re doing it around more of our customers’ needs.
At Freedom Power, we’ll deliver energy freedom — and we’ll never stop looking for ways to do it.
