We use premium technology across every install. Every solar installation comes with a 25 year warranty to provide you with top-tier customer service and confidence for years to come.

Install SPAN Smart Panel to manage your home's energy on a circuit by circuit basis from the comfort of your phone.
A HELOC may work best for homeowners with sufficient equity who want ownership, competitive interest rates, and financial flexibility. It may be a strategic option for those who think long-term about value and leverage.
Solar is widely viewed as a desirable home upgrade. By using equity to install a system that lowers operating costs, you’re often strengthening your home’s resale appeal.
It depends. If you purchase your solar system with funds from a HELOC, then yes, you will own the system. However, if you use the HELOC funds to pay for a prepaid PPA or prepaid Lease, we recommend you review your agreement with the PPA or Lease provider closely to understand if/when you will have the opportunity to own your system.
Solar reduces your electric bill, and homeowners may use those savings to offset their HELOC payment. You’re essentially redirecting money you already spend on utilities into a home asset.
No. A HELOC is separate from your mortgage, and will have its own rate, so you keep your existing mortgage rate while accessing your home’s equity.
A Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) lets you borrow against the equity you’ve built in your home. You can use that line of credit to pay for your solar system while keeping your existing mortgage intact.
HELOCs may have lower interest rates than unsecured solar loans or credit cards. You only pay interest on the amount you use, and you avoid refinancing your entire mortgage.
Leases are ideal for homeowners who want solar savings with minimal commitment and zero maintenance. If maximum long-term savings and ownership are your priority, owning the system may be a better fit.
Lease agreements are typically transferable to the new homeowner, subject to approval. This allows the next owner to continue benefiting from solar without needing to purchase a system.
You pay a fixed monthly amount that’s usually lower than what you’d pay your utility for the same energy. This gives you protection from rising utility rates and more predictable energy costs.
A leased or third-party owned system means a solar provider owns the equipment on your roof, and you pay a predictable monthly payment to use the energy it produces. You get the power and savings—without owning or maintaining the system.
Typically little to none. Lease programs are designed to remove the large upfront expense of solar while still lowering your monthly electric costs.
The system owner does. Monitoring, maintenance, repairs, and performance issues are handled for you, so there’s no surprise costs or responsibility on your end.
Yes. You’ll use the solar energy generated on your roof first, reducing how much power you buy from the utility. Most customers see immediate monthly savings compared to utility-only power.
Your TPO contract remains valid, and another provider assumes responsiblity – your coverage continues.
Absolutely – the system must be installed properly if it expected to work and produce solar power. If not installed properly, you cannot achieve expected results.
Yes, Freedom Power ensures you get high-quality, warrantied equipment that the provider stands behind.
The TPO company insures the system and takes care of the repairs or replacement.
Ask about payment terms, escalators, service coverage, and transfer options – all designed to make solar simple.
You'll always contact the TPO provide directly – they handle service, monitoring, and repairs for you. With Freedom Power, we perform all the work on our installed systems.
The TPO company covers all repairs, maintenance, and monitoring at no extra cost.
Escalators are increases in your payment typically less than expected utility rate hikes. However, only a 0% escalator is a controllable variable. Freedom Power is one of the few solar installers that offers a 0% escalator.
No - with a lease, the system isn't your asset, so it doesn't increase your property taxes.
TPO gives you the savings and protection of solar without the upfront cost or risk of ownership.
The inspectors will only need access to the areas relevant to the solar installation. They do not need full access to your entire property.
Typically, the inspectors will review:
They may also want to see areas in the home near the electrical panel, like the garage or utility room.
The typical solar inspections required include:
City inspection: Required by your city or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) to close out any electrical or building permits required for the installation.
Utility inspection: Required by your utility company to approve grid interconnection.
We will schedule all the required inspections with the relevant electrical, city, county, and state authorities.
Some of the key things solar inspectors look for during the inspection process are:
Roof structure and attachments: They will check that the roof can structurally support the panel weight and that mountings are properly secured.
Electrical connections: They confirm all wiring is up to code, properly sized, and adequately protected.
Voltage and currents: They test that voltage and currents are within expected ranges throughout the system.
Safety features: They check that all required safety mechanisms like shut off switches are installed and functional.
Panel condition: They inspect panels for any damage sustained during installation.
Inverter operation: They ensure the inverter is working properly to convert the solar energy into usable electricity.
Meter connection: They confirm the meter is correctly allowing energy to flow both ways.
Waterproofing: They check areas where roof or walls were penetrated to confirm proper seals.
The goal is to verify all solar components were installed correctly and safely.
The full approval process for your new solar system usually takes 2-4 weeks from the time installation is completed, depending on the required inspections for your location. Here's what to expect:
For most inspections you are not required to be home, and there is very little you need to do on your end to prepare. We recommend:
Clear access to electrical panels: Make sure the area around your main electrical panel is clear so the inspector can easily access it.
Remove pets: For safety, please secure any pets away from the inspection areas.
Charge devices beforehand: There may be brief planned power shutdowns as part of inspection.
Yes, the inspection will be scheduled on a specific day, and our team will take care of scheduling it for you.
You will be notified of the inspection date and details via email, as well as through updates on your project tracker in your myFreedom account.
For most inspections, you do not need to be home, as inspectors are only assessing the exterior of the property.
However, some jurisdictions may require entry to the attic or roof during the inspection. You or another adult would need to be home to provide the inspector access.
We'll let you know at the time of scheduling if you need to be on site.
Your inspection is typically requested very soon after installation is completed, and you’ll be updated on your date and time via email and in your myFreedom account. Please note that the inspection date is dictated by the availability of your city and utility inspection departments.
Rest assured we attempt to get the soonest possible inspection appointment time!
We will notify you as soon as we receive the results of the solar inspection via email and the updates in your myFreedom account.

The solar panels themselves produce direct current (DC) electricity, but our homes run on alternating current (AC) provided by the grid. Here's why there's a mismatch and how we convert between the two:
So in summary, we need the inverter as the bridge between the DC solar system and AC home grid.
No, you do not need to worry about registering the warranty for your solar system.
Our team takes care of that entire process for you, and can answer any questions about your warranty during your launch meeting.
We will notify you by email and update your Project Tracker as soon as your solar system receives PTO (Permission to Operate) from your utility company` and is fully approved.
PTO is the final step in the interconnection process where you receive approval from the utility to activate your solar system and begin generating electricity.
Procedures, rules, and regulations can vary by utility, but we’ll provide you with clear notification as we navigate the ins and outs of your utility company for a seamless installation experience.
You should start seeing energy production from your new solar panels very soon after the system is launched and activated. It can take a few months for your system to fully integrate, and for you to get an overview of `what` you can expect your production levels to be.
If you have questions or are concerned about your monitoring, please contact our Service Department and select "I am concerned about my system’s production but there are no visible alerts or errors" on the form.
Even with solar panels, most homeowners will still receive an electric bill each month, however, panels allow you to rely less on the grid and reduce your monthly utility charges.
A few reasons you may still receive an electric bill are:
That said, solar panels can still significantly lower your electricity costs. The more sunlight your panels get, the more solar power they'll generate to offset grid electricity usage. And with options like battery storage and net metering, you can further reduce bills by storing solar energy for nighttime use and earning credits for excess solar generation.
Your panel type will tell you the monitoring app you’ll need to download to keep track of your system performance remotely and stay informed about your solar energy output.
If you have Maxeon panels, you can follow this link to download the myMaxeon monitoring app, and learn more about monitoring your panels.
If you have Mission Solar panels, you’ll want to use this link to download the Enphase Enlighten monitoring app.

With the SPAN Home App, you can easily monitor your home's energy consumption, solar production, battery system, and EV charging. You can manually turn circuits on or off, whether you're at home or away. Plus, you can automate which circuits take priority during off-grid operation, ensuring your battery power is used efficiently.
When a grid outage is detected, your storage system will switch your SPAN Panel to off-grid mode, and you'll get a banner notification in your SPAN Home App about the outage. Circuits marked as “Must Have” and “Nice to Have” will receive power from the battery. Any circuits marked as 'non-essential' will turn off for the entire duration of the outage unless they are moved into the 'nice to have' or 'must have' priorities. Once grid power is restored, your storage system notifies the SPAN Panel to go on-grid. Once on-grid, all “Non-essential” circuits and previously turned off “Nice to Have” circuits will automatically turn on. Subsequently, the red Power Outage banner in your Home App will disappear.
You can manage your home's energy consumption at the circuit level, monitor the energy consumption and use insightful data to help you manage your energy more comprehensively – all through the SPAN Home app.
SPAN is designed to accommodate any integrations and automations you might have with new thermostats, appliances, heat pumps, EV chargers, and more. We also offer easy financing options, including $0 down and low monthly payments tailored to your financial situation.
Before installing solar panels, you should ask if your roof is the right shape, type, orientation, direction and slope and whether it’s strong enough to support panels.
You should also ask about local rebates and incentives, warranties, and how you can connect to the grid. More questions include determining your homeowners association (HOA) regulations, your home’s efficiency, how much energy you use, how much solar costs in your area and more.
These are all questions that Freedom Power will help you answer during your free consultation.
The biggest consideration when installing solar panels is your installation site. Because roofs are the most common place for installation, several factors determine whether your roof is suitable for solar panels. Your roof type and shape, slope, orientation and direction are all top considerations.
Before going solar, you should know the average amount of energy your household requires daily. . You should also research the type of solar panels you need. High-efficiency solar panels will generate more energy on a daily basis, and you can store that energy in a home battery backup if needed.
Before purchasing a solar panel system, you should consider a few factors.
Efficiency, yield, warranty options, durability and aesthetics (which might involve your Homeowners Association) are all major considerations. Freedom Power only offers products and services with the highest ratings on the market, and which are covered by a 25-year performance, product and workmanship warranty.

Microinverters make your overall system more reliable as they will continue producing power if one of the inverters fails. A string inverter based system is more likely to shut down because a single malfunction on the string means the entire system comes down. With microinverters, there is no single point of failure. Microinverters make your system easier to add onto and more versatile in the placement on your roof. String inverter systems are limited to 2-3 surfaces on your roof. Microinverters are also more efficient in variable sunlight because they work independently of one another.
People who own electric vehicles (EVs) likely have home charging stations to power their cars. Solar panels can connect to those home charging stations to fully power your EV at night or whenever it’s not in use.
Generally speaking, residential solar panels have a smaller form factor than commercial panels do.
This is because residential roof areas are smaller and require the versatility of a smaller panel.
Commercial solar panels have a larger form factor than residential solar panels since the majority of commercial roofs tend to be large flat surfaces with minimal obstructions.
An average-size commercial solar panel is around 485 Watts.
However, there is not a standardized form factor for solar panels.
Meaning you can find a higher wattage panel, but it is also a larger panel.
The same is true of lower wattage panels, they have a smaller surface area.
Commercial solar panels can vary widely in cost based on size and location.
We will work with you to develop a custom design that works within your budget. The majority of Freedom Power’s commercial projects pay for themselves between 4 and 7 years.
An average-size commercial solar panel system is around 220 kilowatts (kW) and will produce about 286,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
Every commercial installation is different. Some contain more or less than 220 kW, so it’s best to speak with a solar specialist to determine the system size that is appropriate for you.

Installing solar panels isn’t just “smart” — it’s a power move. It puts money back in your pocket, boosts your home’s value, and cuts your carbon footprint without you lifting a finger. Month after month, year after year, you’re the one winning — not the utility company.
