About Lyndsay and Leslie

Twins, real estate gurus and HGTV hosts Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis are no strangers to the spotlight. Their wildly successful show, “Unsellable Houses” airs to 3.6 million viewers across all platforms and returns to HGTV for its 5th season later this year. The twins also recently competed in “Rock the Block” – HGTV’s competitive renovation show where they were given just a few weeks to renovate a blank-slate home with their signature styles. This is when they turned to Freedom Solar to help them take home the prize.

About their Award-Winning Design

To win the “Rock the Block” challenge, Lyndsay and Leslie had to develop a design that would receive the highest appraisal to receive bragging rights and a street named in their honor. In addition to their already stellar design ideas for the home’s interior, the twins looked to the energizing power of the sun to tip the odds in their favor. With the competition set in Florida, the twins knew they could take advantage of the sunny weather and create an energy solution that would provide a backup for hurricane season.

With the help of Freedom Solar Power, the designers constructed an array constant of 21 Mission Solar panels. Adding solar to a home raises the home’s value by 4.1% on average! In addition to a powerful way to harness energy, the team installed 3 Tesla Powerwalls to store all of the energy produced during daylight. These powerful batteries will provide power to the home for 72 hours or longer if severe weather knocks out the utility making it the perfect safe place for everyone on the block. Lastly, the twins added a Chargepoint Home Electric Vehicle Charger to round out the sustainable theme of the home. All of these ingredients mixed together created the perfect recipe for a win – the twins took home the gold. Freedom is proud to have supported these brilliant designers cross the finish line and create a home that will save the owners thousands of dollars in energy and keep them powered through any energy scenario.
